It was fun while it lasted...

The site originated as the venue for the Pretoria Show, which began in 1939 under the name Transvaalse Landbouskou (Transvaal Agricultural Show).

It was primarily an agricultural event serving the farming community.

  • Over time, the show expanded beyond agriculture to include exhibitions, entertainment, and family activities, becoming South Africa’s largest springtime show.
  • In 2009, it was rebranded as the Tshwane International Show, aiming to promote the Tshwane region and uplift the western part of the city. The event contributed significantly to the local economy, generating around R50 million annually.
  • By 2011, the show evolved into The Spring Show, focusing on family entertainment, and later returned to its agricultural roots with livestock competitions.
  • The venue itself was renamed the Tshwane Events Centre and hosted major events, including serving as the IEC’s nerve centre during the 2004 general elections.
  • In recent years, the site has fallen into neglect and vandalism.
  • The City of Tshwane announced plans to redevelop it into a mixed-use precinct with hotels, retail, offices, and residential spaces, but these plans have yet to materialize.

These boards are made from soft steel and can be mounted on the wall, either by the folded strip at the back, or holes can be drilled at the allocated spaces indicated. This is ideal for outside areas, like an enclosed braai area etc.

This is an awesome conversation starter!
