The Navion is an American single-engine aircraft introduced in 1946 by North American Aviation, later produced by Ryan Aeronautical.
Designed as a rugged, all-metal, four-seat touring plane, it featured a low wing, retractable landing gear, and a distinctive sliding canopy.
Originally intended for the post-war civilian market, its military heritage influenced its durability and performance.
The Navion became popular among private pilots and was also adapted for military liaison roles.
Today, it’s regarded as a classic of general aviation, prized for its vintage design and reliability. There are only 5 of this aircraft active in South Africa.
