Durban Mini Town!

Mini Town in Durban is a beloved miniature city attraction that dates back to the early 1970s. It was created as a tourism and educational project to showcase Durban’s landmarks in a scaled-down format.

The concept was to give visitors—especially children—a chance to explore a “tiny Durban,” complete with replicas of iconic sites like the City Hall, Moses Mabhida Stadium, and the beachfront Golden Mile.

The models were built at a scale of about 1:24 and were meticulously crafted to reflect real architectural details. Mini Town became a popular family destination and a nostalgic spot for locals, often used for school trips and leisure outings.

Over the decades, it was maintained by a non-profit organization, with proceeds supporting charitable causes.

Recently, there have been reports that Mini Town faced financial challenges and was at risk of closing, making it a piece of Durban’s cultural heritage that many people remember fondly from childhood

These boards are made from soft steel and can be mounted on the wall, either by the folded strip at the back, or holes can be drilled at the allocated spaces indicated. This is ideal for outside areas, like an enclosed braai area etc.

This is an awesome conversation starter!
